Using your mobility allowance to pay for a new car is an important choice for the life you plan to lead. And Motability is your perfect motoring partner. For thousands of people with disabilities and their families, it’s the key to trouble-free motoring and the open road. We take care of the practicalities, including: a single, regular payment which includes insurance, maintenance and RAC roadside recovery routine servicing, and tyres at no extra cost a unique customer service help line so you can enjoy the freedom of the road.

Who can apply?

To use any of the Motability schemes you must be receiving one of the following benefits: Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or War Pensioners Mobility Supplement. You should expect to receive the allowance for the full length of the agreement you choose. But don’t worry; we welcome applications as long as you have at least 12 months award length remaining when you apply. An application for a car can also be made on behalf of a child aged three or older, who is entitled to the mobility allowance, and even if you don’t drive, but receive the allowance, you can apply for a car as a passenger and propose two other people as your drivers.

Motability Contract Hire Scheme*
This low cost rental package is the most popular of Motability’s schemes because of its simplicity. You just exchange your Motability benefit for the use of a brand new Saab for three years, during which time it will be serviced, insured and fully maintained, and covered for RAC roadside. Apart from routine top-ups for things like oil and screen wash, your only motoring expense is your fuel. Some vehicles may incur a one-off advance payment, but with low or nil advance payment models frequently available. Saab can get you on the road without touching your savings.

Motability New Car Purchase Plan ‡
Saab also offer discount on a wide range of models that can be purchased through Motability using your DLA or WPMS. You are responsible for insurance, maintenance, servicing and running cost throughout. And the vehicle becomes yours to keep at the end of the payment period. All new Saabs are protected by a three year manufacturer’s warranty** and one year’s free AA-operated Saab Assistance, of course, so you shouldn’t find yourself with any unexpected repair bills.

Motability Used Car Hire Purchase Plan ‡
Cars less than five years old, with under 60,000 miles from the date of contract can also be purchased from Saab through Motability. If you are a Blue Badge holder, receive either the Severe Disablement Allowance, Higher Rate Mobility Component/Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Lower Rate Mobility Component of the DLA, this is the plan for you.
