Whitmore’s Company profile

Whitmore’s was established by Jerry Whitmore in 1990 with the backing of General Motors venture capital division.

The Edenbridge branch employed just fifteen staff. Jerry grew the business based on exceptional customer care and in 1997 the Sevenoaks branch opened for business.

The site at Sevenoaks was derelict prior to our ownership and a major refurbishment took place in 1996 before the opening in January 1997.

Further growth was followed by the acquisition from H.R. Owen in December 2001 of the largest Vauxhall retailer in the London region, at Western Motor Works, Chislehurst.

With the addition of Saab and Chevrolet at Chislehurst the site is only one of twelve nationally tri-brand GM partner franchises.

The Sevenoaks branch celebrates ten years of trading in 2007.

The Edenbridge after sales centre at Melbourne House has recently added Saab authorised repairer to complement authorised repairer for Vauxhall and Chevrolet.

Today Whitmore’s employs over one hundred and fifty staff. Customer care is still paramount to our business as it was in 1990.
